I just put a pic of today's rocket progress in our pic library. We have the four lower sections assembled, we're putting together the two middle sections tomorrow, and you can see the skeleton of the engine in the background. We're going to "skin" the outside with the thin wood tomorrow as well.
We're saving this weekend for final touchups and painting if anyone's interested in coming by, just PM me directly and I'll give you the info.
Did I mention that people will be able to go inside it?
It's gonna be cool...
And you probably all know this already but I just got this mail:
The Playa is very ODD, different textures. The city is in a new site this
year, slightly north of the last 5 years' location. The "12 mile-trego" road
runs right the fuck thru center camp.
The different textures are on account of a drifting lake on the playa most
of the summer. Some of the stuff has the biggest, deepest crevasses I have
*ever* seen. Dont drop anything unless you are carrying a shovel. Other
areas are the lousy texture we all suffered from in 2001. Some parts were so
hard it was difficult to pound in posts, many blades popped off.
BRING DUST GEAR- IT"S HELLA DUSTY. The more traffic that breaks up those
deeeeep fluffy crevasses the more 2001 style white-outs we can expect. There
have already been nasty ones delaying the survey.

Re: Rocket info (and playa info)
Tue, August 15, 2006 - 9:27 PMI just received another ranger mail that said the previous playa conditions report email was a HOAX.
Great.
Sorry about that. Although it's nice that it wasn't true... -
